BelCon Web Server Policy

Beloit Student Congress, on behalf of the student body of Beloit College, is authorized to establish a student organization web site and maintain a web server subject to the following terms and conditions: The web server will reside on the Beloit College network.
- The Beloit Student Congress server, and the web sites and other resources hosted on it, will adhere to all applicable college polices and guidelines including the Student Handbook and Ethical Use policy, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Policy on Computers Connected to the Beloit College Network, and College Software Standards.
- If college guidelines are violated or disregarded, or if a complaint is made concerning material on the Beloit Student Congress web server, the appropriate procedures will be followed, as outlined in College policies.
- Any web sites hosted on the Beloit Student Congress web server shall display a statement indicating that: “The materials contained on this web site are presented by student organizations and do not necessarily reflect the views of either the broader student population or of Beloit College.”
- Links to the Beloit Student Congress homepage will be maintained on the appropriate Beloit College web pages. Suggestions from the Beloit Student Congress for link placements are welcomed.
- The Beloit Student Congress web server will be owned and operated by the Beloit College student body. ISR helps facilitate server repairs. Server repair costs are funded by the Beloit Student Congress. ISR provides other technical support, such as hardware and software purchasing, assistance with web page development, and software support in accordance with College Software Standards.
- The College will provide a static IP address and access through the firewall (if applicable) to the web server. The web server will be configured to adhere to ISR security standards, so as not to pose a security threat to the broader campus network
- The Beloit Student Congress Director of Inventory and Technology, along with the Office of Student Activities, will coordinate with ISR staff to ensure that current policy and security practices are being upheld. Any effort by the Director of Inventory and Technology or others associated with Beloit Student Congress to compromise access limitations to the Beloit Student Congress web server will result in the removal of the web server from the Beloit College network.
- Beloit Student Congress will take steps to ensure that all students who prepare materials for and manage operations of the Beloit Student Congress web server are familiarized with and abide by this policy.
